Let's keep in mind a few rules of hermeneutics (how to interpret the Bible):

1. Let the Bible define and explain itself.

2. Let the plain, straightforward verses inform the more difficult ones.

3. Context, context, context. The verses before and after tell us why something is being stated, so let's not ignore those.

4. See if "First Use" of a word in the Bible or the specific book defines the word for later understanding.
